Modify Test Case

You can update the test cases that are already created over the course of the project. 

You can modify test cases only if they are not shared for automation. The lock icon next the test case name indicates that this test case is shared for automation hence cannot be edited from Qualitia Design Studio. However, you can request access from Automation Studio to modify the test case, if required.

A task or test case can be accessed by any one user at a time. In case the test case is being modified by some user and other user tries to update it, Qualitia displays a message regarding the test case lock. The lock is released after the first user saves the task and navigates to some other test case.

You cannot modify TC steps and conditional steps from the test cases received from the automation studio for design updates.


To modify test cases:

  1. Sign in to Qualitia Design Studio and in the projects section, click on the desired project name under which the test case exists.
  2. From the top menu items, click Test cases.
  3. Specific Test case can be search/filters here.

  4. Select the test case which you want to update.
  5. Click the edit icon () next to the test case name to update test case name, description, severity and priority.
  6. Update tasks and task steps based on the requirements. You can use following controls to update the task or test cases:
    • Use  +  to add new steps or tasks.
    • Use    to remove task steps or detach the task from the test case.
    • Use  to reload the task grid. This will discard the unsaved changes. 
    • Use  to undo the last action.
    • Use  to redo the last action.
    • Use  to expand all tasks.
    • Use  to collapse all tasks.
  7. Once you do all the desired updates, click Save.

Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts while working on a test case grid.


After you complete your work on the test case, you can share these test cases with automation studio so that the automation tester can create automation scripts for these manual test cases.
