Connecting Project to JIRA

After you create the Qualitia Design Studio project, you must connect it to Atlassian JIRA for synchronizing requirements of the application under test. You can connect to JIRA Server or JIRA Cloud.

Setting up Qualitia Design Studio project is a one-time activity. After you connect the project to Atlassian JIRA, you (including your team members) can start creating test cases for the synchronized epics and stories.

To connect a Design Studio project to JIRA:

  1. From the Requirement Management Tool list, select as JIRA.

  2. In the JIRA Connection section:

    1. Enter JIRA Server ID or JIRA Cloud URL.
The JIRA Server ID is a combination of the Hostname/IP of the server where JIRA is installed with a port that is configured for JIRA to run on.
      For example: http://192.168.33.22:8080

    2. Enter the credential details:

    3. Click Confirm to authenticate credentials and connect to JIRA.

  3. In the Select the JIRA Project section, start typing the project name and select using the drop-down list.

  4. In the Issue Hierarchy section, you can define the hierarchy of the Issue Types (Epics, Stories and so forth) to be synced from the JIRA project.

    1. Use drag-and-drop controls to set the right hierarchy for your project.

    2. For custom issue types, enter a search name to fetch the content from JIRA at the time of synchronization. The search name is set while creating custom issue types in JIRA. By default, it is named as parent link. However, the JIRA administrator can change it to the desired name. You will get this information from the JIRA administrator. For default issue types (like Story, Epic), this information will be pre-filled.

  5. In the Select Epics for Automation section, select the epics from which you want to get stories for automation.
    You can select multiple stories.

  6. To save the configuration and complete project setup, click Save.
