Measuring Test Case Coverage for User Stories

You can add acceptance criteria for a user story and get it reviewed from the team members to ensure that all the test cases are covered.

 

The following table describes the steps that you need to perform to measure test coverage for your user stories.

The reviewers verify if their suggestions have been incorporated correctly and then approve the acceptance criteria.

Assigning Reviewers to an Epic

Only the project manager or an administrator can assign reviewers to an epic. The reviewers are responsible to review the acceptance criteria or add new acceptance criteria in the assigned epic.

You can assign one user as a reviewer for multiple epics. For more information, refer to Granting Review Privileges .

To assign reviewers to an epic:

  1. Click the User Stories menu.

  2. Select an epic by applying filters.

  3. Click Assign Reviewers.

  4. Select the users that you want as reviewers for this epic.

  5. Click Save.

Qualitia Design Studio sends a notification e-mail to the users that they are selected as reviewers for the epic.

Adding the Acceptance Criteria

Perform the following steps to add the acceptance criteria for a user story.

To add the acceptance criteria:

  1. Click the User Stories menu.

  2. Select an epic by applying filters.

  3. Under the Acceptance Criteria column, click the Acceptance Criteria button for the user story.

  4. Enter the acceptance criteria.
    The maximum length for a criterion is 150 characters.

  5. Click the Notes tab to add any important notes.

  6. Switch to Epic Review to add acceptance criteria.

Requesting Acceptance Criteria Review

After you add the acceptance criteria for an epic, you must request the reviewers for a review.

To request the acceptance criteria review:

  1. Click the User Stories menu.

  2. Click the appropriate user story by selecting the appropriate filters.

  3. Optionally, click Acceptance Criteria, Notes to view and edit acceptance criteria.

  4. Click Request Review.

Qualitia Design Studio sends a notification e-mail to all the reviewers assigned to the epic.

When the reviewers start providing suggestions, you can map acceptance criteria with existing test cases based on these suggestions. For more information, see Managing the Review.

Reviewing the Acceptance Criteria

You can review the acceptance criteria added by the test case author and provide your feedback and suggestions.

To review the acceptance criteria:

  1. Click the Review menu.

  2. Under Review Status, click the user stories which are In Progress.

  3. You can add acceptance criteria.

  4. Click the Notes tab to provide your feedback and suggestions. 

  5. You can filter the acceptance criteria as per the users and their test case mapping status.

  6. Switch to Epic Review to add suggestions for the acceptance criteria associated with the epic.

Managing the Review

You can map acceptance criteria with existing test cases for the same user story.

To manage the review:

  1. Click the User Story menu.

  2. Click the appropriate user story by selecting filters.

  3. Click Manage Review.

  4. Click the Notes tab to view and add any important notes. 

  5. Click Map to map the acceptance criteria with the test cases.
    Note: You can filter the acceptance criteria as per the users and their test case mapping status.

  6. Switch to Epic Review to do the following actions:

    1. Add the acceptance criteria for the epic.

    2. Click Map to map the acceptance criteria with test cases.

Approving the Acceptance Criteria


After all the feedback and suggestions from the reviewers are incorporated, you can go ahead and approve the acceptance criteria.

Only the reviewers assigned to the epic, project manager, or administrator can approve the acceptance criteria for a user story.

The acceptance criteria for a user story is marked as Approved only if the project manager or administrator approves it, or all the reviewers associated with the epic approve it.

To approve the acceptance criteria:

  1. Click the Review menu.

  2. Under Review Status, click the user stories for which acceptance criteria are open.

  3. Click Approve.

Qualitia Design Studio sends an approval notification e-mail to the test case author, project manager, and all the reviewers.
