After you install the extension you can start using it for adding objects into the object repository.
To add objects using Google Chrome:
- Launch Google Chrome browser and navigate to the application URL.
- Open Developer tools (press F12 or right-click and select Inspect from the context-menu).
- In Developer tools, select Object Spy.
- Enter Server URL and Qualitia User ID.
The Server URL is a combination of the hostname and port 8887 where you have installed Qualitia server.
For example, http://192.112.33.123:8887 or http://localhost:8887 (if server is installed on a local machine).
By default, Qualitia uses port 8887. You may change it while installing /wiki/spaces/QASWM7/pages/1169433190 component. - Click Continue.
The list of projects appears which are accessible to that user. - Select the project under which you want to add new objects and click Continue.
- To add new objects in the repository, turn the Select Mode on.
- Hover the mouse pointer over the object and click it once the object details are highlighted.
You will see the object added into the list in the Object Spy window. Once you add all the required objects, click Save to Repository.
This will add objects into the repository and the object is now ready for use in the automation studio.- To learn objects for a child window, do one of the following:
- Open the child window, and open its associated Object Spy to learn child window objects., which are added to a new object repository.
- Open the child window. Click the Toggle button of the Object Spy associated with the parent window to add the child window objects, which are added to a new object repository. You can switch to learn objects of the parent window and its child windows using the Toggle button.
It is recommended to use Qualitia Object Spy on Google Chrome in left dock mode or right dock mode. If you want to use it in any other docking mode, you just need to re-enable the select object mode to start using it.
You can also detach Object Spy UI with the application under test page, but the detach mode has the following disadvantages:
- Learning objects from a page that is opened in another tab, the Chrome OS adds the objects of another page in the same object repository.
- By opening a child window, another Chrome OS opens specifically for Child Object Spy. However, if you close the object spy associated with the child window, you can still use the object spy associated with the parent window to learn object for the child window too, but the child window objects are added to the parent page repository.
