Dry Running helps to validate whether the steps of the test case execute as expected.

The dry runs are considered trial executions. Hence, their execution results are not displayed in Reports and Dashboard portal. A dry run covers all the task and test case iterations as per the set of values defined in the associated Test Data Explorer.

A test case dry run uses the settings defined in the Systems Execution Profile.

  1. Open a Test Case. To know how to open a test case, refer to Editing a Test Case.

  2. Click Run to dry run a test case.

  • If you dry run a test case for a Desktop project, you can start from any step. You need to select the step from where you want to execute, right-click it, and select Execute from the Step.

  • If you dry run a test case for a Desktop project and UFT is already opened with a test case not associated with Qualitia, then the following message is displayed.
    A UFT instance is already opened. Do you want to execute the selected Qualitia test case?
    Do one of the following:

    • Click No to avoid any data loss in the UFT test cases. You need to save the UFT test case, and close the UFT and then start the offline execution again.

    • Click Yes to continue the execution of the selected test suite.

  1. (Optional) Click the Stop button to stop the test suite execution at any step.

  2. After the dry run completes, the test case execution report is displayed.

    The report is automatically saved at the following location:
    <LocalAppData>\QualitiaWDClient\app-8.0.0\WebDriver\ReportResources\1\ITR_xxx\Capture_Images
