 An environment variable Environment Variable is used to specify a common value that is needed in multiple test cases and tasks for a project.

To create an Environment Variable:

  1. Do one of the following to access the Project Settings dialog box.:
    • Click Admin >Project,  and then under the Configuration column, click Configure next to a project.
    • Click Settings >Project > Project Settings. It will open the project settings of the current project.
  2. Click the Environment tabVariables tab.
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. Double-click in the Name field and enter the variable. 
    For example;;URL.
  5. Double-click in the Value field and enter the associated value. 
    For example; http://www.google.com/.

  6. Click OK.

    You can now use this variable as per your requirements in Test Cases and Tasks as displayed in the figure below.following image:
    (info) When using Environment Variables in Test Cases or Tasks, make sure you enter the variable name inside braces “{}”.
